MAGISTA SHOT DOWN BY SNIPERS IN THE WET BATTLEFIELD.

In what seems to be a smooth sailing campaign for Magista turned into a blood bath as Magista suffered the 1st defeat in the league.

Wet showers and thunderstorms occupied most of Singapore in the morning and constant weather updates were broadcast in the group chat, especially for those were around Woodlands/ Marsiling area. Hopes of the game continuing were restored when showers turned to drizzles and concerns of the game postponing or canceling were reassured by the positive weather changes. Both teams went into the game guns blazing, as both were aiming to get top frags in Div 3.

First half ended goalless as both teams had equal chances and both teams having difficulty finding the passing rhythm with bad first touches and unfinished passes. One can only blame the slippery ball and the wet surface of the pitch for the miscontrols, but both teams can only afford to stick with the game plan of outgunning one another. HT Score: Magista FC 0-0 Snipers FC

Second half looked a little more interesting as both teams tried to push for the kill. Magista started the assault with many firing opportunities but missed the crucial target. Snipers, having their game plan of holding back and sitting still, delivered a one hit one kill when a good run from their winger sent a through pass to their striker, splitting Magista's defence wide open. Sniper's striker slotted in the ball home and Magista were left to tend the wounds. Score 1-0 to Snipers FC. Magista, still attending to the blow, kept assaulting and trying to penetrate the hardened Sniper's defence. Wave after wave, Magista tried to level the scoreline but were only met with the Sniper's parked bus. Alas, there was no more time and Magista had to taste a defeat and a bleeding wound. FT Score: Magista FC 0-1 Snipers FC

Magista players were still in shock after the game with the first defeat. It was a battle won fairly by smart Sniper's tactics and Magista can only heal the wounds (and the soul) and hope to recover for the 2nd leg. Heads up, chins up, there is still hope, this is only round 1. Magista will come back and deliver that killer shot, a bullet reserved for the Snipers. #HalaMagista

After the nail-bitter vs Blacks last Saturday, we expected a similar encounter this week. Rain tried it's best to be a spoiler, but fortunately it paved way for a thrilling encounter in which SNIPERS edged out Magista through a well taken goal. We always believed in the strategy of horses for courses. Well aware of the threat the opponents posses, SNIPERS F.C. Management requested for a disciplined team performance. Last minute withdrawal of attacking players forced a change in tactics, to deploy an uncharacteristic defensive ploy. BELIEVE and play to the tactics was the word conveyed during the pre-match team talk. Both teams had a fair share of chances in the first half, but the half ended goal less. Second half was more like a game of chess. Move for move, punch for punch, but eventually SNIPERS opened the deadlock with a neat finish. With 13 minutes left to play, and nothing to lose, Magista continued to push more bodies forward looking for the equalizer, but it was in vain. SNIPERS had the chance to double the lead in the dying minutes, only to be denied by the Magista number 1. Full time. SNIPERS FC 1-0 MAGISTA It was a power packed game of football, played in the right spirit. First non scoring game for Magista, but they are well and truly the best offensive side in the league and we look forward to the second leg. - ROAR SNIPERS!
