The Vikings showed up at ACS with a full squad of win hungry players. Vets started with a classic warm up with a few runs, some passes, and then onto shots on goal and corner kicks. TGA looked short on numbers and only shortly before game start did they muster player number eleven. The Vikings looked confident. The game started with the Vikings being the dominant side. Possession game and effective moving of the ball from side to side. The ACS pitch is very narrow so even Hax was able to switch the ball. The first few chances fell to CJ who fired at goal from far out but neither shot was very dangerous. Stabell had a great shot at goal but the keeper saved in unimpressive fashion with a kick. It looked like a matter of time before the Vikings could take the lead. This happened after a precise CJ corner that an unmarked Hax only had to head in to make it 1- 0. The next goal fell shortly after with John beating the offside trap and alone with the keeper he scored, naturally. The game was completely under control and Rafa was already counting the three points. The next ten minutes, however, proved that 2-0 is a very dangerous lead. First a penalty was called against Crouch when he took the ball down on the stomach. Wrong decision but experience shows that it does not pay off to argue with this ref. 2-1 and Vikings shaken. The 2-2 goal was scored only minutes later when the ball was lost in midfield and some of the Vikings defense did not bother to run home. Rafa, for example, was spotted on the midfield still counting his three points. TGA even managed to take the lead when Stereo made a pass that would even make Jesper Olsen embarrassed. A complete meltdown by the otherwise steady Vets team. With still ten minutes to go in the half Stabell controlled the ball keeping, kept his marker away, and made a great pass to Marck running into the empty space in defense. Marck passed the ball to John who scored. 3-3 and the Vets showed that they may have been shaken but not stirred. Shortly before the first half ended the Vikings even took the lead after a John tapped in a loose ball bouncing in the TGA defense. The score board read 4-3 as the half time whistle blew. The Vets started second half with new faces on the pitch. TGA had received a few extra players but it was clear that the larger Viking bench would make a difference. The Vikings started the half by playing the ball around nicely. TGA were not allowed any chances and a bit of frustration started to build leading to a few late challenges. It took almost fifteen minutes before we saw some real action and perhaps less surprisingly on the day it was John who once again boasted his goal scoring ability. A TGA corner was headed away and John won the ball on our own half. He first protected the ball and then turned on his marker and sprinted away. Last man approached but John pushed the ball to the right and passed the defender on the left. Finally John released a shot of brute force stretching the net. Pure Golazo!! Having before lead with two goals and gone behind the Vets continued the high pressure. Lots of good running was put in from every player on the pitch. Crone was showing great form and Schoenne impressively managed to take down a high ball and keep it on the pitch. Defense looked tight once again and Stereo proved that his first half blunder was just damn bad luck. Actually Jesper Olsen was also a fantastic player, representing teams such as Ajax and ManU, as well as the Danish national team, and he deserves to be remember for a lot more than just one bad pass. Stereo, we still love you. Thank you to TGA for a competitive match. MOM 15 votes: John 2 votes: Morten 1 vote: Schoenne Hax

We had to field a very makeshift XI for this match, with 2 subs arriving at half time after having already played a game for another TGA side. Huge thanks to everyone that put in a very solid shift against a strong and well organised Vikings side. We weren't communicating well and went 2-0 down early, but an inspired keeper switch saw us grab 3 quick goals. Unfortunately, we also conceded 3 more throughout the rest of the game. Quality debut performance from Ross and Nick, excellent second outing for John and Mark, and good contributions from Austin, Stu, and Marcus. We battled well and just fell victim to a few mistakes at the back. Very proud of the 3 goals though, and we should really have had more.
