A welcome break from the usual bruisers in Div 1, we managed to deliver a result in a game where we were called upon to dictate play against opponents who were on hindsight too respectful of us.  Always helps to get an early goal with Marcus finally locating his shooting boots and curling one in with 5 minutes on the clock. That was a useful buffer for a 35 minute period where we overplayed in the final third and showed a worrying tendency to smash the ball into the surrounding forestry of Bowen at each available opportunity. One warning shot by Team Xtreme with Mike well beaten and the bar coming to our rescue seemed to spur us into action, as Dona was successful in what must have been our 20th attempt on goal in that half with a rising shot that had just enough direction to escape the keeper's clutches. 2-0 at halftime spurred the double sub of Mike and Pong - who combined to nearly deadly effect with shots so poor that they nearly functioned succesfully as crosses for each other. We looked to have the game in control till the ref awarded a penalty against us probably to the surprise of everyone including the opponents - but Yangy was equal to the task, getting a strong enough hand to tip over and preserve our buffer.  That was the turning point as shortly after, David curled in a classy effort for 3-0 to effectively kill the game. Yilong then found space in the 6 yard box, thought about pulling the trigger, but decided to complicate things by laying on for Mike with the goal gaping who drilled in a precise finish from 1cm out. Laks and Darren, wasteful of better chances earlier in the game, managed to get one each to complete the result.  MOTM goes to Yilong - anyone who can present Mike with a chance that he can't miss deserves the highest honour.  Cheers to Team Xtreme for a sporting game and best of luck for the rest of your season!
