Hibernians Academicals FC 2 vs 5 1 Tanah Merah Football Club

Hibs lined up with a decent squad and plenty of enthusiasm. Starting with a 4-5-1 to make full use of Derrick's pace. 1TM started strongly and moved the ball around well but as per Talbot's game plan of being compact and closing them in midfield, they main played in front of us with nothing coming through. Until despite the midfield holding two's graft the ball fell innocuously to the feet of a 1TM player who unleashed a pearler to the top corner past a diving James in the sticks who could do fk all about it. Top bin. 1-0. Hibs had managed to knock the ball well around the back and into the midfield but we're struggling to much further forwards with some misplaced passes and big asks of Derrick to get on the ball but then ended up isolated. Half time came around with the score at 1-0 and all to play for in the second half. Hibs started the second half well with some excellent vodka and tiger drinking skills on show by club pres Rory and recently retired founder of the CGA smashing it on the sidelines. On the pitch, Hibs were managing to move the ball around much better and were applying more pressure in the final third. However after a losing possession on the halfway line 1TM broke and a speculative effort ended up looping way up high, taking a deflection off the International Space Station before managing to squeeze in under the bar with James blinded by the floodlights. 2-0. Hibs rallied and, spurred on by the fact that Solksjaer has recently agreed to take over the reigns next year, managed to press and Julio nipped in to control a ball over the top and then knock it over the onrushing keeper into an empty net. 2-1.  1TM continued to put Hibs under pressure and after a poor clearance, they came right back at us resulting in Stylesy bringing down their man 25 yards out. The resulting freekick is likely to end up on Jimmy Bullard's new DVD 'Top Bin Beauts You Slaaaag' as it was slotted perfectly into the top corner clipping the underside of the bar. Again, nothing James could do about it. 3-1. Hibs moved to a 4-4-2 to have more options up top and encouraged the wingers to get forward behind their fullbacks who weren't the best. Hibs managed to create several attacks and pressed the 1TM defence well, but they managed to soak it up. Phil had been doing a good job of tracking back and was doing so for a corner when he tangled with their number 15 (who had laughed at the looped in fluke goal like a bellend) and somehow ended up with a busted nose. Their 15 insisted he hadn't touched him and it must have been the nose bleed fairies. Phil went off to clean up and on came An Rui. Hibs weren't for giving up and bagged another one through Joel's good finish. 3-2. Hibs pushed for more and as such gaps started to appear and we were susceptible to the counter attack. One of which involved a throw-in back to James that didn't quite make it and allowed them to, like a terrible tinder date, slip in and grab another. 4-2. Hibs continued to battle and were caught once more by their MoM running at our defence before finishing well to the corner. 5-2. The score a little harsh on reflection but fair play to a game played in mainly good spirits. All the best to 1TM for the rest of the season. Author: P Gill

A 5-2 scoreline flattered us in the end with a couple of late goals adding a gloss to a victory which was in the balance throughout.  We dominated posession throughout but were unable to create too many clear goal scoring opportunities and were reliant on an excellent individual strike from Jonny on his debut ti give us a 1-0 lead at the break.  Remi doubled our lead early in the second half with a complete fluke as his mis-hit cross caught the keeper out.  Hibs then pulled one back with a nice counter-attack and well executed lob finnish.  Raver dispatched a free-kick via the underside of the bar to restore our 2 goal lead, but this also didn't last long as Hibs again pulled one back after we failed to clear the ball.  A tense period ensued with Hibs sensing the opportunity to get a point, before Remi pounced on a mistake at the back to prod home and wrap up the points.  There was just enough time for Remi to complete his hat-trick right at the death.  Thanks to Hibs for the competetive game and good luck for the remainder of the season.  MOTM: Remi ; White Kit: Tak
