Home Hunt Football Club 2 vs 3 Spanish World FC

A bruising encounter with champions elect Spanish World saw the latter sneak away with the 3 points after a spirited HH display. 16 pre-kick off became 11 at kick off and SW took advantage of a weakened HH line-up with player pit of position. Known for their wonderful tikkitakka football it was pure route 1 for their first with a long punt, catching the defence napping for a routine goal.

It stayed that way until the 30th minute when an uncharcteristic fumble by Alex literally handed them a second for some breathing space. At the other end HH went close, but without really testing their keeper as everything was straight at him.

Second half and we started brightly and were soon to be playing 10 when Joe was clean through and brought down, second yellow, no question (though it took the ref a while) before producing a red. HH started to get on top naturally and chances were being created. Joe pulled one back after a smart finish and we changed to a 3-4-3 formation in serach for the equaliser. Then from a HH corner SW broke and grabbed a corner from which Kike cleverly waited for the slightest of contacts to get a free-kick 23 yards out with the result of it inevitable to the gaffer - top bin - unstoppable - 3-1 - game over!

The lads rolled up their sleeves and went straight back at them with a wonderful finish from Robbie after a nice lay off from Joe which arrowed into the bottom corner with venom. A couple of half chances and frantci defending from SW but the whistle went for a 3-2 scoreline for SW.

Well played SW - they say you ahve to win ugly at times and this was probably the ugliest I have seen you play against us over the years (but still lots of quality!) - you rolled up your sleeves and did the nitty gritty to secure the 3 points. We look forward to the rematch and good luck in your run-in for the league title.

HH - a wonderful performance - sadly 2 errors cost us 2 goals but the effort by all cannot be faulted. While SW may have had 10 players for the majority of the second half they needed some luck to have been in the lead to start with and on another night, the 5-6 good chances hit straight at the SW keeper may have found the net. We can take heart from that performance and it is good to see the new additions to the squad bedding in and getting used to each other. Let's keep that same intensity anfd attitude!

Well deserved victory suffering against a very tough Home Hunt and with one less player during practically the whole second half. Well done!!! Goals: Peligros, Rodri and Like. MOM: Kike
