Everyday Sunday Tusser Club 2 vs 2 Hibernians Social Football Club

Sunday Social Football, just come and sweat it out.

Social travelled to Serangoon this week to play Everyday Sunday, a longtime member of the ESPZEN family. A thin squad was decimated further when Joe was forced to pull out after picking up a knock yesterday. Get well soon Joe.   Hibs started with James 'the cat' H in goals, back 4 of Rod, Webbo, Lam and James 'the original' H, midfield of Hakan, Rory, Shak, Max, 'gourmeji mushroom swiss' Billie, with Dash up top.   We looked really lively right from the get go, no doubt trying our best to kill the game off before our lack of numbers could do any damage. And we succeeded in doing so, with Hakan getting on the end of a lovely ball from Max. His first time shot was well saved by the keeper. Hibs then won a corner, from which Rory sent a delicious ball to Dash, who powered a header home for an early lead.   1-0 Hibs   Billie's positioning, strength on the ball and skill was really starting to cause their fullback plenty of problems and it seemed the nest likely source for a goal. An out ball towards him, saw him hold it up for Dash, who took in into the corner before finding Max with a nice short pass. Max took a touch, a shimmy, and placed the ball into the bottom corner. Lovely clam finish and a terrific team goal.   2-0 Hibs   The game was played in terrible heat and we were subjected to some rather 1 sided decisions from the ref. We almost lost a goal through his lack of clarity. He indicated a foul for us, pointing towards ES's goal but never blew his whistle. The opposition, smartly playing to the whistle, proceeded to take a quick freekick, OUR freekick, and shot wide. The ref then indicated a goal kick. That meant that if ES had scored, it would have stood. Unfortunately, that was not the worst decision he would make this afternoon.   James H then produced an absolutely world class save worthy of any professional keeper. ES worked their way down our right and crossed into the danger area. I think it hit one of our defenders trying to clear it but it took a nasty bounce and went ricocheting towards goal in the opposite direction. James, who was already diving the other way, somehow managed to twist in the air and touch the ball towards the post. We then finally cleared our lines. What happened next was disgusting and completely unacceptable. A high ball into the box, was caught by James H. However, their no.11 decided to follow through and send James crashing into the post. Incredibly, the ref again never blew for a foul and was busy trying to see where the ball had been spilled to(I was standing right next to him near the center circle) Only after we have gone ballistic did he realise what had happened and checked on James if he was okay. It was as blatant a red card as can be as James was almost seriously hurt. I think Billie might have had another chance before halftime   Halftime   It was really comfortable for us so far. Hard work no doubt but ES were not getting many chances, only having 1 long range strike that James tipped over the bar. Rod and the rest of the back 4 were talking constantly and directing traffic, making sure we kept our shape. Hakan and Shak were a bundle of energy while Max and Rory kept the ball playing forwards whenever they got on the ball. Second half begin and I am not quite sure what to say. Long story short, we conceded twice 5 mins after kickoff in the most painful of circumstances, which we have to be honest enough to admit, that we did it to ourselves. That took a lot of wind our of our sails, and it got even worse after when James H had to come off with a potential broken finger. The original James H went into goals, and promptly scared the shit out of me by pretending to catch a cross, only to pull his hands back at the last second and half-volley it into the stands. Extraordinary agility on display there nonetheless. Max tested the keeper with a long range lob, while Davey Hunt just missed Dash's through ball. That was the last of the chances and Hibs had to settle for a point.   Final 2-2   Not the result we wanted but could not ask anymore of the players who put their bodies on the line, fighting the heat, a nasty set of opponents and the ref. Very happy with our shape, our execution of tactics. 3 players stood out today Lam, Hakan and James H, with James H winning his second MOTM in a roll! Congratulations and get well soon cause we need you!
