Hibernians Academicals FC 1 vs 5 Singapore Football Club

Cleared off the line, disallowed goal, hit the post and Phil missed from two yards. Raper got nutmegged as well

Swiss Titan Struts His Stuff   Singapore Football Club’s Tim Walter continued his strong start to the season, against Hibernians, on Wednesday evening. SFC's very own Swiss Titan bagged two goals, and a further Man of the Match award, as he concluded a busy September for himself.   Starting in a 3-5-2 formation, Coach Ross Macklin quickly showed why he’s been appointed for one of the top roles in Singapore football, as he pivoted SFC to a 3-3-4 and a high press. Results were immediately forthcoming; Hibs looking relieved when they finally gained a touch of the ball - by virtue of an incorrect throw in decision.   The referee continued to be involved when he decided that Hibs’ goal, scored in the 15th minute, was offside. 0-0. As you were.   Two minutes later, however, SFC did successfully break the deadlock. Matt McCole, showing what he can do best, as he sneaked in behind two defenders, before guiding the ball past the goalkeeper at the near post. A clinical finish by the young Scotsman, who’s rapidly developing into one of SFC’s most exciting attacking prospects. 1-0 SFC.   The game’s second goal came courtesy of a free kick. DJ Dashnyam whipped in a telling ball which evaded everyone apart from Tim Walter, who tucked the ball past the Hibs keeper. The two DJs linking well to make it 2-0.   The second half restarted with SFC against making some tactical shifts to protect their two goal lead. Again the changes rang true, and the Sashmen quickly opened up a four goal lead.   Liam Shotton beat his defender down the left-hand side and played in Dashnyam. The French-Mongolian played a delightful heel to feed Tim Walter who finished with the precision of a Swiss watch from 18 yards.   Having played the role of provider, Shotton then decided it was his turn to get on the scoresheet. His well-struck free-kick going under the wall and wrong-footing the keeper, to make it 4-0.   The remainder of the game was played at a high tempo but with less cutting edge than earlier. Some lax defending enabled Hibs to pull a goal back. Much to the chagrin of goalkeeper Ronnie Smollet.   The final flourish fell to SFC, however. McCole continued an impressive night as he beat his defender to reach the goal line. As he squared the ball back across the six-yard box, he left Aleks Duric the simplest of tap ins. Final Score 5-1.   Man of the Match: Tim Walter
