Home Hunt Football Club 0 vs 2 Singapore Football Club

A good effort with a threadbare patched up team. Good luck to SFC for the rest of the season and see you again soon!

SFC remain in the hunt   A dominant first half display, from Singapore Football Club, was enough to secure all three points, on Thursday evening in the ESPZEN Midweek League.     Playing against Home Hunt FC for the first time, SFC began with an attacking line up that promptly paid dividends.     Scottish hotshot, Matt McCole, continued his good form in the midweek games, striking first. McCole finished cleanly, after John Norfolk turned creator with a well crafted assist. 1-0 SFC.     Mike Hemmingway then stepped up to make it 2-0, as the Englishman executed a well worked free kick.     The goal effectively killed off Home Hunt’s hopes for the evening, and SFC continued to control the game, although were unable to extend their lead. The score remaining 2-0, as the two sides went in at the half time break.     The second half continued in much the same vein as the first, with SFC dominating. Frustratingly for Coach Hulen, despite his team creating several good chances, SFC failed to score a third goal.     Fortunately, for SFC, it was a good night defensively. Akil Pompey remained a rock at the back and ensured it was a quiet night for Ronnie Smollet. The talismanic Scotsman earning his clean sheet with the minimum of fuss. Other defensive highlights, for SFC, included the defensive duo of Julian Schurmann and also Hazwan Bin Azhar. Both debutants slotting in calmly at the back and very much looking the part.   After the game Matt Hulen commented that he was “...pleased with an efficient, yet not clinical, night’s work...” as SFC look to remain in the hunt for top spot.
