Good game but unfortunately came away with no points despite a very spirited display from DHL. Lots of pressure and a few good opportunities but it was That Team which took the victory even though they went down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes following a ridiculous kick out by the goalkeeper on Matt even though he had it comfortably under control. Fortunately Matt is made of iron but the stud marks down his chest were pretty harsh, and the ref made the right decision to dismiss him.
That Team started the slower of the two teams - and that may have been because they turned up 2 minutes before kick off and then took another 15 minutes to get on to the pitch. DHL looked lively with a few good chances but That Team got the first break with a well worked goal that led to a tap in. Gum then stepped up and smashed a peach in from distance and the keeper didnt even move. 1-1 at half time.
DHL took to the pitch ready for the second half, but the opponents had a game plan to let them stand out in the sun for 5 minutes before slowly making their way back on to the pitch. The heat clearly did something to DHL's focus and within 10 seconds That Team had scored to regain the advantage - and 8 minutes later got another from a free kick.
Gum did add another for DHL after the keeper had been sent off and despite the pressure couldnt get an equalizer.
Thanks for the game That Team - will see you in a couple of weeks and look forward to the rematch.
Good performance from DHL - but just not enough to get any points. Mark and Ted played well at full back, Gum always looked lively and Matt was always trying to find a way through. Not to be this time but we go again in two weeks time.
