Galloping Gazelles 2 vs 3 Hilderinc Twā Football Club

New look Twã finally records win since match day one.    Following the improved performances (despite the losses) from previous weeks, the Twã continued their overhaul and finally recorded their first win since match day one through a hard fought contest. The Twã took the lead midway through the first half with a well taken Logaraj Sundram goal after bring sent through by an observant Gary Choo's back heel pass. After going into the half with a slender one goal advantage, Gabir Nabil doubled the advantage with well-placed shot from the top of the box after some nifty footwork.  The Gazelles came pouring through in search for their opener and got it soon after. A through ball beat the offside trap and was finished off after a 1 v 1 scenario. The Gazelles would had gotten their equalizer earlier had it not been from the heroics of veteran goalkeeper JC who drew a fine save from a dead ball in a dangerous position. The Gazelles continued their relentless assault in search for their equalizer and had gotten it from "fastest fingers first” scenario. A long ranged effort though well read by the vet keeper was palmed onto the crossbar and in the resultant rebound, the Gazelles were the first to react as the entire Twã defence stood rooted.  The Twã and the Gazelles continued to trade body shots in search of their respective winners towards the latter stages. Group founder Ian Morris had a brilliant chance to add his name to the score sheet but was in two minds as he dragged his effort wide of the post. Soon after, the Twã got the winner from a corner. Taken by Kumaresan Maniam, the ball was left brilliantly behind by Matthew Joseph for Twã veteran Sashi Kumar to smash home the winner through the crowded goal mouth. Credit to the Gazelles for not conceding the game as they gave everything they had to try to level the game for a second time and it almost happened in the dying moments. A Gazelle cross was sent from the left flank and in a heart in mouth moment, the ball managed to find its way toward the far post where there were not one but two unmarked Gazelles were waiting to stab the ball home. Fortunately for the Twã, the opponents were just a fraction of a second too late as ball flashed past the post and went behind for a goal kick. Soon after the whistle went for a morale boosting victory for the new look Twã. Special mentions to make shift right back Justin Chua and left back Melvin "Nose Bleed" Sim who despite playing out of position, excelled and made the positions their own. Also centre back and Man of the Match Jegan Krishnamoorthy who had an important engagement who was due to leave at the half, played through the rest of the game (with added "persuasion" from goalkeeper JC) showing the rest of the Twã what commitment to the cause looks like.
